Tesco has issued a cautionary alert concerning a product that may present a potential health hazard to certain consumer groups. Customers affected by this advisory are advised to refrain from consuming the implicated batches and are encouraged to return them to the store for a complete reimbursement.
The supermarket’s product recall pertains specifically to its own-brand ‘Free From Breadcrumbs’ due to the undisclosed presence of wheat (gluten) in the product, which could be problematic for individuals with wheat or gluten allergies, intolerances, or those diagnosed with coeliac disease.
A customer notice shared by Tesco earlier this week informed customers about the recall of all date and batch codes of Tesco Free From Breadcrumbs 170g due to the undeclared wheat (gluten) content, indicating a potential health risk for those with wheat (gluten) allergies or intolerances.
This recall applies to all 170g packs of Free From Breadcrumbs, including all date codes ‘up to and including Best Before End January 2027,’ as outlined by the Government’s Food Standards Agency (FSA).
Consumers who suspect they have purchased the affected product can return it to any Tesco store for a full refund, without the need for a receipt.
Additionally, M&S has initiated a recall of a specific batch of ‘Milk Chocolate Honeycomb’ over concerns of potential peanut contamination not listed on the label. The affected packs weighing 120g with lot number ‘5242’ and a best-before date of May 12, 2026, are subject to this recall.
M&S emphasized customer safety as a top priority and expressed seriousness in addressing issues related to food production, hence the recall of Milk Chocolate Honeycomb due to the possible presence of undeclared peanuts in select packs.
Individuals allergic or intolerant to peanuts are advised against consuming these items and can return them to any M&S store for a full refund.
The FSA notice also confirmed that Marks & Spencer is recalling the identified product and will be reaching out to relevant allergy support organizations to inform their members about the recall. Furthermore, the company has issued point-of-sale notices to explain the reason for the recall and provide guidance for customers who have purchased the product.
