Pressure is increasing on Andrew Mountbatten Windsor to provide testimony regarding the Epstein files. A private email exchange has surfaced discussing allegations that the former Duke of York engaged in “consensual sex” with one of Jeffrey Epstein’s employees.
In a significant move last month, Andrew, aged 65, was stripped of his titles by his elder brother, King Charles III. All official patronages and military appointments linked to the Crown were also rescinded. Andrew, who no longer uses the title ‘His Royal Highness,’ has been instructed to leave Royal Lodge and move to a property on Norfolk’s Sandringham estate.
This development comes after years of scrutiny surrounding Andrew’s association with the late Epstein, who passed away in 2019. Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein whistleblower, accused Andrew of engaging in sexual activities with her on three occasions when she was a teenage trafficking victim. Despite vehemently denying these allegations, Andrew stated in a 2019 Newsnight interview that he had no recollection of meeting Giuffre.
Recent events include US lawmakers voting decisively to release the Epstein files, with an email exchange between Epstein and former New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr drawing attention. The email exchange, dated January 2015, reveals Epstein seeking exoneration from allegations of trafficking young women for sex.
Offering advice to Epstein, Thomas Jr highlighted the importance of distancing himself from Andrew to mitigate the ongoing controversy. The email suggested that Andrew had engaged in consensual sex with a particular individual who worked for Epstein.
Following these developments, President Donald Trump called for an investigation into Epstein’s ties with Bill Clinton. However, no public allegations have been made against Clinton by Epstein survivors or associates.
There is growing interest in the UK’s swift actions in addressing Andrew’s situation, with US officials considering a similar approach. Representatives have urged Andrew to testify before the House Oversight Committee by responding to a formal letter sent by Representative Robert Garcia. The letter emphasizes the urgency and seriousness of the matter, requesting Andrew’s cooperation in a transcribed interview regarding his relationship with Epstein.
