An individual suspected of wielding a knife has been apprehended for allegedly assaulting both police officers and civilians in proximity to a college. The arrest took place just before 9:30am this morning outside Bradford College in Bradford, following a report to the authorities. The alleged assailant was reportedly carrying a bladed object.

Security personnel at the college initially restrained the suspect, who was later taken into custody by West Yorkshire Police officers. The police have confirmed the arrest of a man in his thirties on suspicion of assaulting two civilians and two emergency responders, with additional charges of a racially-aggravated public order offense and damaging a police vehicle.

The injured parties were transported to a hospital for treatment, with their injuries reported as non-life-threatening. A small gardening tool was seized by the police at the scene.

Detective Inspector Ailis Coates stated that the incident may cause concern in the community but assured that the suspect was swiftly apprehended and urged witnesses with footage of the event to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. Police presence remains in the area to offer reassurance to college staff, students, and the community.

In a separate incident, a school in Wigan briefly went into a partial lockdown due to reports of a potentially armed individual. Police conducted a search but found no weapon.
