“Samsung TVs in UK to Get Free UKTV Channels Upgrade”

Samsung TV owners in the UK are set to receive a significant free upgrade, providing access to additional content without the need for extra devices. UKTV has announced that its popular free-to-air linear channels will soon be accessible on Samsung screens, allowing viewers in the UK to enjoy a variety of content seamlessly.

The channels will be delivered over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial connection. Samsung will introduce a dedicated section on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for users to discover and watch classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows without navigating through menus.

In the upcoming months, channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&Yesterday, U&W, and U&eden will be directly accessible through Samsung’s Universal Guide into the U app. Samsung anticipates that millions of its TVs will receive this update, with the channels prominently featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, catering to viewers who rely on internet-based TV for live and on-demand content.

Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm about the strengthened partnership with Samsung, highlighting the enhanced accessibility of the U app and the continued visibility of UKTV’s diverse content.

Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, emphasized the importance of UKTV in enriching the entertainment offerings on Samsung TVs, aiming to provide customers with a wide range of broadcast content for an enhanced viewing experience. Samsung’s commitment to innovation and improving the entertainment ecosystem is showcased through partnerships like this, integrating UKTV’s content with services such as Samsung TV Plus and built-in broadcast app access.

Although the exact launch date has not been disclosed, these new features are expected to roll out on Samsung TVs in the near future.
