Five individuals have lost their lives, and 40 others sustained injuries following a collision involving a Dutch tour bus that overturned after hitting a crash barrier in eastern Switzerland. The incident occurred between the villages of Susch and Zernez in the mountainous region of Graubuenden. Among the 45 passengers on board, three individuals are in critical condition at a local hospital.
Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, with no indication of other vehicles being involved. The travel agency responsible for the trip, Oad, expressed deep shock and sorrow over the tragic event, extending sympathies to those affected and their families.
Swiss President Guy Parmelin assured a comprehensive inquiry into the matter. Images from the site depict emergency crews wearing fluorescent gear using power saws to access the overturned bus, under the supervision of law enforcement officials.
