Prince Andrew reportedly reassured Jeffrey Epstein that they were in the same predicament, despite Andrew claiming to have cut ties with the convicted sex offender. The alleged email exchange, dated February 28, 2011, also purportedly included Andrew expressing the need to overcome their situation. This communication followed Andrew’s assertion in a notable interview with Emily Maitlis that he had terminated contact with Epstein in December 2010.
The email conversation is said to have occurred shortly after a controversial photo emerged showing Andrew with Virginia Giuffre. The email, reportedly sent from Andrew’s official account, allegedly hinted at future interactions between the two and encouraged Epstein to maintain communication.
According to The Sun, the email from Andrew to Epstein contained phrases indicating mutual support and a promise of future interactions. Andrew supposedly signed off the email using his formal royal title, “A, HRH The Duke of York, KG,” with KG denoting his Knighthood of the Garter, an honor he received in 2006 and still holds despite relinquishing other titles and royal duties following a legal settlement with Giuffre in 2022.
Giuffre has accused Andrew of sexually assaulting her on three occasions when she was 17 years old. Despite her claims, the Prince has consistently denied any misconduct.
Formerly known as Virginia Roberts, Giuffre played a significant role in exposing Epstein’s crimes and advocating for victims of human trafficking.
During a BBC interview on November 16, 2019, Andrew claimed no memory of meeting Giuffre and refuted the allegations against him. He also stated that he had not witnessed any inappropriate behavior during his interactions with Epstein.
Following the public backlash after the interview, Andrew announced his decision to step back from his royal duties, expressing sympathy for Epstein’s victims and those seeking closure.
Buckingham Palace has been approached for a response to these allegations.
