“Parent Attacks Teacher Over Phone Incident”

In a disturbing incident at Guara Education Centre 4 in Brazil’s Federal District, a 53-year-old teacher was physically assaulted by a parent in front of students. The altercation began when the teacher instructed a student to focus on classwork instead of using a mobile phone. The student promptly contacted her father, Thiago Lenin Sousa, who arrived at the school and violently confronted the teacher.

Surveillance footage captured Sousa entering the classroom and repeatedly punching the teacher in the head. Colleagues and the student attempted to intervene, with the daughter even physically restraining Sousa. Despite the presence of other students witnessing the attack, authorities later arrested Sousa on charges of making threats and assault. The teacher reported that she had simply instructed the student not to use her phone.

Following the incident, concerns arose in the community regarding school safety and mobile phone usage. The local department of education issued a statement condemning violence in schools and emphasizing the importance of a secure and respectful learning environment.

The incident sparked discussions on social media, with many questioning the permissibility of phones in schools. Some individuals expressed outrage over parental involvement in such violence, raising concerns about the erosion of teacher authority in classrooms. The situation prompted reflections on the future of education amidst such challenges.
