“Burger King Plans Major UK Expansion with 30 New Restaurants Annually”

Fast food behemoth Burger King has unveiled intentions to launch 30 new establishments annually in the United Kingdom as part of an accelerated expansion strategy. The chain, which currently operates 574 restaurants in the UK, disclosed that the rollout will commence next year, with a specific focus on self-operated locations rather than franchise-run outlets.

This initiative comes on the heels of Burger King’s robust sales performance amidst what it described as a “challenging” economic climate. In its most recent financial report, the company highlighted “further signs of improvement” throughout its operations this year, indicating a slowdown in inflation. However, it also acknowledged the impact of financial constraints on consumers and rising operational costs attributed to wage increases mandated by the previous year’s Budget.

Alasdair Murdoch, CEO of Burger King UK, noted that while food and utility costs inflation have stabilized, the industry still grapples with subdued consumer sentiment and escalating labor expenses due to hikes in minimum wage rates. Notably, in September of this year, Burger King joined forces with renowned chef Gordon Ramsay to introduce an £11 wagyu burger.

The firm reported strong trading in 2025, surpassing $1 billion (£748 million) in system-wide sales across the UK. During this period, Burger King also expanded its franchise rights to the Republic of Ireland for the first time, presenting new growth prospects for the business.

Accompanying the financial disclosures for the previous year, the company revealed a 7% revenue increase to £408.3 million in 2024. Meanwhile, underlying profits surged by 12% to £26 million, attributed to prudent cost management practices.

Mr. Murdoch expressed satisfaction with the solid performance and strategic advancements of Burger King UK in 2024, highlighting revenue growth, positive like-for-like sales, and enhanced underlying EBITDA through rigorous cost controls and operational efficiencies.
