“Kate McCann Testifies in Stalking Trial”

In a stalking trial, Kate McCann informed a jury that Julia Wandelt’s persistent claims of being her missing daughter, Madeleine, triggered a sense of uncertainty in her mind. Wandelt, hailing from Lubin, Poland, allegedly harassed the McCanns by asserting she was Madeleine and engaging in unwarranted communication tactics. Testifying at Leicester Crown Court, both Kate and Gerry McCann shared the distress inflicted by Wandelt’s false claims.

Kate McCann described the mounting stress and anxiety caused by Wandelt’s actions over the past two and a half years. She expressed a slight relief only after Wandelt and another individual were apprehended in February this year. When questioned about Wandelt’s insistence on a DNA test, Kate mentioned a fleeting doubt in her mind, swiftly dismissed upon realizing the inconsistencies in Wandelt’s story.

Recalling an unsettling encounter with Wandelt at her residence, Kate highlighted the emotional plea for a DNA test despite her clear distress. She recounted feeling pressured by Wandelt and another individual, Karen Spragg, who appeared more forceful in their approach, emphasizing the distress caused by their actions.

Kate firmly stated her disapproval of their presence and demanded they leave, underscoring her discomfort and distress. Wandelt and Spragg face charges of stalking the McCanns between June 2022 and February this year, which they both deny. The trial is ongoing.
