A 25-year-old man from Iowa, Hamza Smajlovic, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend’s mother and injuring her father. The incident occurred in Des Moines, Iowa. Smajlovic had previously assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Jasmyn Robison, prompting her to end their relationship after enduring years of abuse.
During the sentencing hearing, Jasmyn and other members of the Robison family spoke, highlighting the impact of the tragedy on their lives. District Judge Joseph Seidlin handed down a life sentence without parole, along with an additional 25 years for the shooting.
