Tragic A55 Crash: Man Killed in Eastbound Closure

A fatal car crash on the A55 led to the closure of the eastbound lanes near Halkyn. The incident occurred early on Saturday morning, resulting in a seven-hour closure of the eastbound section of the road at the Caerwys junction.

According to North Wales Police, a man lost his life in a single vehicle collision involving a Ford Ranger pick-up at junction 32 of the A55. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Katie Davies from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit expressed condolences to the man’s family and friends, who will receive support from a specially trained Family Liaison Officer. Investigations are ongoing, and witnesses or individuals with dash cam footage are urged to come forward.

The road closure allowed the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to conduct initial inquiries, with the A55 reopening around 8:30 am. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact North Wales Police via webchat or by calling 101, quoting reference number 25000835732.
