Trump Supports Royals Amid Prince Andrew Fallout; Titles Stripped

Former US President Donald Trump has extended his support to the Royal family amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding Prince Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

King Charles has initiated the process to strip all royal titles, including ‘prince’, from his disgraced brother and evict him from the Royal Lodge mansion. The scrutiny on Andrew’s ties with Epstein and allegations of sexual misconduct by Virginia Giuffre has put immense pressure on the royal household.

During a conversation aboard Air Force One, Trump expressed his sympathy for the family, calling the situation tragic. Meanwhile, Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed the removal of Andrew’s honorary rank of vice-admiral, his last remaining military title following his return of others in 2022 due to the Epstein scandal.

The fate of Andrew’s medals, including those from the Falklands War, remains uncertain, with the Ministry of Defence awaiting guidance from the King’s decisions. Sources indicate a potential reversion to the rank of commander or a complete loss of naval status for Andrew.

Having already been stripped of his Duke of York title in the Roll of Peerages, Andrew’s longstanding association with the Royal Navy dates back to 1979 when he commenced officer training. His military career included service as a helicopter pilot and active involvement in the Falklands conflict, leading to promotions to vice-admiral by 2015.
