An altercation between a mother and her son took a tragic turn when the young boy fatally stabbed his own parent. The nine-year-old child reportedly stabbed his 37-year-old mother to death following a dispute regarding his behavior, as per law enforcement officials.
Witnesses recount that after the deadly stabbing, shopkeeper Caline Arruda dos Santos requested one final hug from her son before succumbing to her injuries. Prior to the harrowing event, it is said that Caline had instructed her son to cease playing in the street.
Subsequently, at the residence of her partner, the boy’s stepfather, Caline purportedly cautioned her son that she would report his behavior to a relative, as per a report from the Civil Police via Brazilian news outlet Metrópoles.
Allegedly, the boy proceeded to retrieve a knife from the kitchen, concealed it under his shirt sleeve, and then approached his mother and elder brother near the door leading outside, where he stabbed Caline in the abdomen.
A witness shared that Caline sorrowfully uttered, “Come here and give me one last hug, because I won’t survive.” Following the incident, a neighbor rushed Caline to the emergency room and later to Parelheiros Hospital in Brazil, where she was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.
Due to being under the age of 12, the boy was not taken into police custody since he cannot be prosecuted by the Children’s Court. Presently, he is under the care of a relative of the victim who stated in an interview that the boy seems not to fully comprehend the gravity of his actions, only learning about his mother’s death from another child.
This distressing event unfolded on Rua Gaspar Leme in Parelheiros, south of Sao Paolo, and is currently under investigation by the Civil Police. This incident comes in the wake of a teenage girl facing charges for the alleged double homicide of her mother and stepfather in the US.
Sarah Patrick, 17, was apprehended after her mother, Kirstin Brock, 41, and stepfather, James Brock, 45, were discovered with gunshot wounds in their Georgia home. While initially displaying a carefree demeanor in court, Patrick later broke down in tears as she listened to testimonies from various individuals.
Patrick, charged as an adult with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault, is scheduled for trial on January 5, 2026.
