Tragic Death of Kindhearted Millie Grace Brian

A young woman described as having a kind and compassionate nature was tragically discovered deceased in her room shortly after returning from a holiday gathering, a coroner’s inquest revealed.

The victim, Millie Grace Brian, 18, had been feeling unwell upon her return home and was later found lifeless in her bedroom by her mother. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that Millie’s blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit for driving. Millie’s mother, Lucy, emotionally honored her daughter’s memory during the inquest, praising her as a remarkable individual with a warm heart and vibrant spirit.

According to the inquest, Millie had attended a Christmas party at Beeston Hockey Club on the evening of December 20 with her family and friends. She had been employed at the club for the past two years.

Millie arrived at the event around 7 pm accompanied by her mother, her mother’s partner, and a male friend. An open bar was available, and Millie was observed consuming vodka and possibly wine. Upon leaving around 1 am, Millie began feeling unwell, experiencing nausea and vomiting.

The following morning, Millie’s mother discovered her lifeless in bed, with no signs of movement. Detective Constable Adam Penn, from Nottinghamshire Police, confirmed that there was no indication of foul play or suspicious activity related to Millie’s death.

A toxicology report revealed that Millie had 187 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood, indicating a significantly high level of intoxication. The coroner determined that while the alcohol alone could not have caused death, it led to vomiting and decreased consciousness, resulting in the inhalation of gastric contents and subsequent fatality.

The cause of death, as confirmed by the pathologist, was attributed to the aspiration of gastric contents due to alcohol intoxication. Beeston Hockey Club paid tribute to Millie, describing her as a beloved member of their staff with a radiant presence.

The club expressed deep sorrow over her passing and initiated a fundraiser to support her funeral expenses, raising over £8,000 in donations. Millie’s memory was cherished by those who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
