The decision to bring in Jacks came after fast bowler Mark Wood got sidelined due to an injury, prompting the team to opt for a spin bowling option over additional seamers Josh Tongue and Matthew Potts following their defeat in Perth. Bashir, England’s primary spinner for the past two years, was edged out by Jacks, who offers stronger batting skills and fielding prowess.
Jacks showcased his capabilities during the pre-series warm-up, impressing with his performance for the England Lions side, including notable dismissals of key players like Stokes, Joe Root, and Harry Brook. Despite a decent debut in Multan, where he took six wickets, Jacks had limited opportunities afterward. However, his all-round skills and recent form have earned him a spot in the upcoming Test.
