“Rising Advent Calendar Prices Spark Holiday Concerns”

With Halloween still around the corner, supermarkets are already stocking up on Christmas goodies, including advent calendars. These calendars, a festive tradition for many, are now offering a variety of treats beyond just chocolates, such as beauty products and alcohol, with prices ranging from a few pounds to hundreds.

While luxury advent calendars are expected to cost more, the price hike on some chocolate options is surprising. For instance, a 90g Cadbury Dairy Milk advent calendar costs £2.50, but a 258g Ferrero Rocher calendar is priced at £17.50 this year.

Other notable prices include a Lindt Selection calendar at £16, a Teddy AR calendar at £15, a NOMO Ultimate Choc calendar at £15, and a Tony’s Chocoloney Countdown calendar at £12. Even popular choices like the Cadbury Heroes calendar at £7.50 and the Kinder Bueno calendar at £9 have seen price increases.

For those eyeing the Ferrero Rocher calendar, it is priced at £24.99 in Selfridges but available for £17.50 in Sainsbury’s and Ocado. Boots and Tesco also offer variations of the Ferrero Collection Chocolate Advent Calendar at different prices.

This trend of escalating prices for advent calendars, once seen as a simple Christmas joy, is now becoming a burden on many, especially parents purchasing multiple calendars for their children. The added costs are contributing to financial worries during the holiday season.

Attempts to reach out to Sainsbury’s, the Ferrero Group, and Selfridges for comments have been made.
