Novak Djokovic Booed at Greek Basketball Game

Tennis icon Novak Djokovic faced a mixed reception in Greece, where he was recently booed at a basketball game. Djokovic, known for his move to Greece with his family, has a strong Serbian background but opted for a fresh start in Athens.

Apart from his remarkable tennis career, Djokovic is an avid basketball enthusiast, often seen supporting Serbian teams like Red Star and Partizan. However, his presence at a Euroleague match between Panathinaikos and Maccabi drew negative reactions from local fans, despite neither of his favorite teams being on the court.

Although the extent of the booing from the 18,500-strong crowd remains unclear, Djokovic appeared unfazed, engrossed in his phone during the stadium appearance. In contrast, his son Stefan acknowledged the crowd with a peace sign when they appeared on the big screen.

Following the Panathinaikos game, Djokovic attended another basketball match where he received a warmer welcome from the audience. Panathinaikos secured a victory against Maccabi, keeping them closely pursuing Red Star in the rankings.

As Djokovic gears up for the ATP Finals in Turin, where he will face tough opponents like Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, his presence is expected to be more warmly received by the crowd. Djokovic, who has been speculated about retirement, qualified for the tournament despite concerns over his form and fitness.
