“Glenn McGrath Sidelined as Commentator Amid Betting Firm Ties”

Glenn McGrath, a cricketing icon from Australia, has been excluded as a commentator by the host broadcaster ABC due to his association with a betting firm. Known for his exceptional bowling skills, McGrath played a significant role in the Ashes matches over the years.

Having claimed 563 wickets in 124 Test matches for Australia, McGrath was a formidable opponent for England in the Ashes series. Despite his successful track record, ABC decided not to feature him as a pundit and commentator, although he will continue to be part of BBC Test Match Special.

ABC confirmed their decision by stating that McGrath and the broadcaster had mutually parted ways for the ongoing Ashes series. The notable commentators, Jim Maxwell and Corbin Middlemas, are set for the upcoming Test in Perth.

The move came following McGrath’s impending collaboration with the betting company Bet365, a similar reason for the previous exclusion of former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson by ABC. McGrath will, however, maintain a prominent role in the BBC’s coverage of the Ashes alongside a distinguished team of broadcasters.

Expressing his confidence in the Australian team, McGrath boldly predicted a 5-0 victory for the home side in the series. With a formidable lineup including players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon, McGrath emphasized the challenging task ahead for England.

As the Ashes rivalry unfolds, McGrath’s insights and predictions add anticipation to the cricketing spectacle.
