“Teen Darts Prodigy Mitchell Lawrie Makes History”

Teenage darts prodigy Mitchell Lawrie has set a new record by becoming the youngest player to secure three senior men’s titles, surpassing Luke Littler’s previous achievement. Lawrie, hailing from Scotland, clinched the WDF Irish Classic championship in Killarney just days after celebrating his 15th birthday.

In a remarkable performance, Lawrie triumphed over Ronan McDonagh in the final match, showcasing his skills with four 180s and an impressive average of 98.60 in a dominating 5-1 victory. Prior to this, Lawrie also claimed the Irish Classic Youths title by defeating Kaya Basal with a score of 4-1 and an average of 90.95.

Among the enthusiastic crowd at the INEC Arena in Kerry, Ireland, were Lawrie’s father, Fraser, and grandfather, Dougie, who cheered on their talented family member as he added another title to his collection.

Lawrie’s achievement at the age of 15 years and four days breaks Littler’s previous record by five months. Looking ahead, Lawrie is set to participate in the upcoming men’s and youth WDF world championships at Lakeside later this month.

Meanwhile, the reigning PDC World Champion is gearing up to defend his title at Alexandra Palace. Lawrie, who secured victories at the British Open and Welsh Open earlier this year, is preparing for a potential showdown against his predecessor.

Although Lawrie will have to wait until he turns 16 to compete against Littler in PDC competitions, his family remains steadfast in their support. In an interview with The Sun, Lawrie’s grandfather emphasized their desire for Mitchell to carve his own path in the sport and enjoy his journey.

Dougie proudly revealed that he was the one who introduced Lawrie to darts, instilling in him the aggressive playing style that has contributed to his success on the dartboard.

As the world of darts anticipates the upcoming World Championship, fans are taken on a nostalgic journey through the rich history of the sport, reminiscing about legendary figures like Eric Bristow, Jocky Wilson, and John Lowe, among others.
