EE has upgraded its broadband offerings for consumers looking to improve their internet services starting in 2026. The company now includes the Smart Hub 7 Plus routers with all broadband packages, delivering enhanced wireless speeds and coverage using WiFi 7 technology.
WiFi 7 offers faster speeds up to 46 Gbps, lower latency, and higher capacity compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E, making it ideal for activities like gaming and 4K streaming. EE’s broadband plans start at £28.99 per month for a 24-month contract, going up to £39.99 for the super-fast 900 Mbps packages. In comparison, Sky only provides its new WiFi 7 hub with gigabit broadband plans, while Virgin Media has yet to offer a WiFi 7 router.
While EE leads in internet provider advancements, it’s important to note that not all devices are compatible with WiFi 7, and its range may not suit larger households. Nevertheless, EE’s new offerings cater well to gaming and streaming needs, providing a future-proof option for consumers. Additionally, EE incentivizes switching by offering up to £300 in exit fees to new customers.
According to Uswitch, EE broadband is recommended for those prioritizing strong and reliable service. However, for budget-conscious consumers or those seeking basic internet access, providers like Plusnet, NOW Broadband, or TalkTalk may offer more cost-effective options. Despite potentially higher prices, EE stands out for its customer service and reliability, ensuring a smoother experience for subscribers.
