Luke Littler has confirmed his participation in the upcoming PDC World Youth Championship after his recent victory at the World Grand Prix. Known as ‘The Nuke,’ Littler clinched a 6-1 win over the world No. 1 player, Luke Humphries, in the final held in Leicester.
This win marked Littler’s first title in his budding career, adding another prestigious trophy to his collection. Eager for more success, the 18-year-old expressed his intention to compete in the World Youth Championship starting in Wigan on Monday.
Having previously secured the tournament crown in 2023 by defeating Gian van Veen in the final, Littler remains eligible to compete in the youth championship, which is open to players aged between 16 and 23. His participation is not restricted based on his ranking or achievements on the primary PDC circuit, as reported by the Daily Star.
Littler, who skipped last year’s competition, expressed his excitement about joining the world youths and emphasized his determination to give his best performance. Fans took to social media to share their anticipation for Littler’s involvement in the championship.
With his recent victory, Littler has narrowed the gap to the top spot in the PDC Order of Merit, trailing behind Humphries by only £70,000. His path to winning the World Grand Prix was challenging, overcoming tough opponents in each match before ultimately defeating Luke Humphries in the final.
Reflecting on his win, Littler described his victory as an incredible achievement and emphasized his goal of reaching the world No. 1 position. He acknowledged the competition ahead but remained focused on his journey to the top spot, highlighting the pressure he aims to put on the current leader, Luke Humphries.
