A 27-year-old woman, Faye Gould, has decided to steer clear of lip fillers after her initial injection resulted in a swollen and bruised lip that lasted for a two-week period. Faye, who felt influenced by the growing trend of lip filler use among young individuals on social media, underwent the procedure at the age of 22, opting for 0.5 ml of filler. However, she experienced immediate swelling post-treatment.
Following the injection, Faye’s bottom lip swelled significantly and showed signs of bruising, though the swelling and bruising eventually subsided. Reflecting on the experience, Faye, hailing from Chelmsford, Essex, expressed her regret and emphasized that she would not repeat the procedure.
Recalling the aftermath, Faye disclosed that she only sought a subtle enhancement and was content with the initial outcome. Nonetheless, she noticed the swelling intensifying just five minutes after leaving the appointment and heading to her car. Despite scheduled plans, including a lunch with friends, Faye’s lip continued to darken with bruising, prompting her to seek advice from the practitioner, who recommended monitoring the situation and consulting a doctor if necessary.
Although the visuals of her bruised lip appeared severe, Faye experienced no pain and resorted to using arnica tablets and cold compresses based on recommendations from a pharmacy. She resorted to color-correcting makeup to conceal the bruising, especially with her birthday approaching the following week. Thanks to the arnica tablets and proper care, the bruising completely healed within a fortnight.
